Project Runway Winner!

So season 8 is now over....what are your feelings on this? Did Gretchen deserve to win or should it have gone to Mondo??

Hope you all had a super weekend and Happy Halloween! We had an awesome bash at Jessi's this weekend with lots of food, cute decorations and cool costumes and also took the kids out trick or treating on Sunday. Where you able to guess what our kids theme was? Stay tuned for pics from that soon!

Project Runway Finale!

I have been once again late in posting this due to a cranky teething baby! As we all know Seth Aaron was the winner (yeah!) , with Emilio as the runner up and Mila in 3rd.

Seth Aaron's collection was the most innovative, artistic and interesting - although maybe not the most wearable. I think he definitely deserved to win. My favourite dress was the stripped one, followed closely by the black and white flowy one. My least favourite were the blue dress and the black pant suit thing with puffy sleeves - I thought they were both just over designed.

On to Mila. She had the second best collection in my opinion, and it was all very wearable. I knew Heidi and Nina were going to eat it right up, since all season they seemed to love her work and this collection was more of the same. If there had been more purple I think I could have really liked her collection - which is hard for me to say since I hated her work all season! My favourite piece was the casual t shirt sweater combo and in second the long black coat. I didn't like any of the pieces that incorporated the shiny black patent leather looking fabric.

Emilio Emilio... I had a hard time picking one I liked, I actually don't really like any of it, He should have placed 3rd. I can't even really say anything about it - it's not my style and if I had to say what I liked best it would be the plain red dress lol.

Project Runway - Mila VS. Jay

So I am a little late posting this! Probably due to my anger at Mila making it to the finals!!! WTF? Jay 's collection was by far the more creative and showed that he has real potential (those leg things were cool!) Mila however showed more of what she always does - it's not retro cool, it's just boring and old.

I think Michael Kors was on Team Jay - but was out voted by Heidi and Nina, he didn't look overly excited about the decision. So as usual the designer I despise makes it into the finals.. I don't see how she could possibly win though. I am excited for this weeks episode - who will win? Seth Aaron or Emilio??

Project Runway - Circus

So we had the final challenge before Bryant Park - The challenge was to create a high end look inspired by the circus. I only really liked Emilio's. Seth Aaron and Jay's were interesting, just not my taste. Anthony kind of bombed nothing about his dress said circus - and Mila's shiny pant suit was awful - it looked like a mad hatter costume from a high school production of Alice in Wonderland. Overall I had much higher expectations from that challenge that nobody really matched.

Unsurprisingly Seth Aaron and Emilio made the cut. Which left us with Jay, Anthony and Mila. Anthony was the first cut, at which point they told Mila she was in - I was ranting so loudly I missed that they also kept Jay, leaving them to a tie breaker. I think Mila would have a really boring collection - Jay would be by far more interesting.

Project Runway - Red Carpet look for Heidi

I am a little delayed on this post - too much fun at Metric :P

Ok so the surprise celebrity was Heidi - which I was kind of expecting by the way she kept saying how difficult and opinionated the celeb was to work with. Unexpectedly however, was Maya's sudden decision to leave the show! She had a definite shot at making it to Bryant Park, but I totally get where she was coming from - she hasn't found her voice as a designer and isn't ready to make a collection. I though it was unfair that they kept saying she couldn't handle the stress-that really wasn't her issue. Maya's departure though allowed for the awesome southern belle Anthony to come back! yeah!!

This proved to be a tough challenge - with the judges only liking 2 of the dresses, Emilio's and Anthony's. I did not like either, I liked Seth Aaron's and totally disagreed with them saying it was boring and looked like a funeral dress. Again Mila put out a boring mall dress - I loved it when Nina Garcia said it looked like something from the Real Housewives of NYC.. instead of her going home my fav Jonathon did - his dress was a mess though.

So next week is the last before the finals - who do you think is going to Bryant Park?? My guess is Seth Aaron, Emilio and Jay.

Project Runway - Textile Design

So this week our remaining designers got the chance to make their own textiles to incorporate into their creations. I think Seth Aaron was the only one who was creative with the design, Emilio I guess was next best - in terms of creativity - but I thought it looked like the rock steady cd cover. The rest look like they just drew some lines with little to no thought.

Top 3 went to Seth, Maya and Emilio. I am 100% sure Seth Aaron will be in the finals and 90% sure he's going to win. He is the only one I think so far that is guaranteed a spot in the finals. Maya's dress was ugly - it looked like a costume from a sci-fi movie - but the judges seemed to like it. Emilio did a good job I guess - but he isn't very consistent, so I am not sure he will make it to the end.

Bottom 3 we had Anthony, Jonathon and Mila. Again Mila squeaked through with an awful design, and proved how delusional she was about her talent by raving about her Crayola inspired Technicolor dream dress. That left my two favs on the chopping block - Johnathon and Anthony. I actually didn't think Jonathon's was that bad- had the jacket been a cowel or something it may have done better - but he ended up safe, and sadly this seasons fabulously outspoken gay man, Anthony, went home :(

Next weeks preview looks good! Any guess on who the difficult, opinionated celeb is going to be and what will be the shocking news???

Project Runway - NYC neighborhoods

So this week we had our first team challenge - pick a NYC neighborhood and make two looks - a day look and a night look. Teams always make for some good drama, although this year seemed like they actually liked each other (with the exception of Mila and Jay.. and really you have to feel sorry for whoever was with Mila.)

For the first time we had two winners Emilio and Seth, and as much as I like Seth - and his look was totally fitting for Harlem, I thought it looked hilarious on a skinny white model - who was anything but Harlem. Emilio's dress was a bit boring and I think Maya and Anthony would have won had Seth and Emilio not shown such camaraderie.

I was really hoping they would dislike Mila's outfit ( Can you tell I don't like her?!) but for some reason they loved her - gasp, surprise, black and white block-y look.. why they haven't realized that she is doing the same thing each week is beyond me.The final two came down to Amy (again!) and Jay, with Amy being sent home. I loved Amy at the start but she really went downhill in the last few episodes!

Make It Work!

Project Runway! Love this show and am hoping to post weekly with Mandi on the episodes. I know it's mid season but better late than never! Quick re-cap up to this point all the designers that have gone home I agree with - except maybe Ping - she would have made for some viewing hilarity. Right now I love Seth Aaron and he is my pick to win. I also love Jonathon I hope he makes it to fashion week! Amy could make it to if she gets back on track she's had two really big misses recently! This is the point where the competition gets really good - most the mediocre designers are out and anyone could make it to the finals.

In the top 3 we had Maya, Jonathan and Seth Aaron. With Jonathan finally getting a win. I did not like Maya's dress at all and was surprised she was in the top - I actually don't like many of her designs. Seth Aaron's was my fav, but I am happy that Jonathan won :)

In the bottom 3 we had Amy, Ben and Mila, with Ben getting the Auf Wiedersehen kiss of death. I don't agree with their decision at all! I thought Ben's look was not the worst look up there and he has done some really nice work in the past (his dress for the magazine challenge was awes!). It should have come down to Amy's Lady Gage leotard and Mila's tweed track suit, with Mila going home.
