Blythe

Ever since I saw this article in the now defunct Craft Magazine (online only now), I've wanted a Blythe.  Jessi thinks they're creepy (but is still encouraging me in this silly purchase) I have googled and googled and I've gotton smitten with the idea of customizing Blythe Dolls.

Sad thing is, with little baby on the way, I just can't justify dropping $100 plus on a doll that I want to pull apart, sand down, carve up and completely make-over.  So I picked up a clone off of ebay.  I figured if I was going to learn to customize , it'd probably be best not to start on the real thing.

I picked this doll up for $17 plus shipping from ebay seller kisnok8 and she should be here in 7-20 days (overseas shipping..sheesh)  I'm excited!!  Can't wait to pull her all apart and put her back together. Also I want to make clothes for her, this knitting pattern from Puchi Collective is pretty neat. Then maybe I'll start to design my own? I never did grow up :)

Antique Store Treasures!

While in Toronto last weekend we stumbled across a great little antique shop (Abraham's Antiques). It has such nice things and no prices so I was pretty sure I couldn't afford anything in there. I was eyeing up some old letter press trays, and probably would have walked away without asking but Joanna asked for me and to my surprise they were only $30! I have seen them before for at least double and not in as good condition! At that price I was also able to get some old letter press letters  to put on it! Michelle scored some Crown mason jars and some super cute red vintage canisters. Now I just need to pick a wall to hang it on and have a new mission when thrift shopping  - to find more letters to fill it!

fabric, food & friends

A group of us went Toronto on Saturday to do some fabric shopping (where I ran into the Sunny Fong the winner of Project Runway Canada season 2) We spent the day in the textile district (where we found the greatest little antique shop - more on that in another post!) and then made our way to the Distillery District for some food and drinks! I have never been to that area of Toronto and it's now my fav! Hope you all  had great weekends too!

Home Sweet Home!

Back from London!!!  The honeymoon was great, the history over there is just amazing. We sat in a pub that was open before Canada became a country.  Pics!!
