BELATED Friday Favourites

Can't believe I forgot it was my turn for friday favourites :(  This wedding planning must really be getting to me!!!! 

We've been spending lot's of time up at the cottage lately.  Here are some of my favourtite things about being at the lake.

The View

This is the view off of the porch at the cottage...Just amazing!  The sky goes on forever...

Canoeing

I spent 5 hours in the canoe the other day...I got one hell of a sunburn and jelly arms, but it was worth it.

The Hammock

There is something so peaceful about a hammock. The gentle sway puts me right to sleep.

Fishing

My dad is an excellent fisherman and we spent a good part of the summer, when we were young, on the water. Some of my very best memories are of fishing with my dad.

Lucky me!!

I recently won a giveaway from lu loves handmade and I am still excited about the package that I received in the mail, all the way from Germany! There was a handmade paper garland and adorable flowers with German text, as well as a cute little laminated bird!


I am now wondering what to do with these paper flowers, they are super cute and I want to put them to good use! If any of you crafty readers have a good idea for them, please leave us your comments...maybe they would make a pretty garland to?

Thrifted Find

A nearby school was giving away a bunch of free fabric and patterns and I scored these two patterns - a vintage swimsuit one and a romper (rompers are so hot right now lol). I also got a bunch of free fabric!

My little garden...

Wow! How excited am I that I grew some veggies!!

I am not a gardener by any means but our house had a little garden with lots of tomatoes in it when we moved in last summer so I figured I better take advantage of that and put some vegetables in it this year. I planted green beans, a few brocolli and two rows of tomatoes that I started indoors in May...I also tried cucumbers too but they didn't survive. Poor little guys! I think I started them too early and they didn't get enough light in doors, but really I am still super thrilled that we had our own fresh beans for dinner last night! yay!! :)

Mirror Image

Found some little mirrors and though....what can I do with those?  Well this is what I came up with!!!

I really like the lockety looking one!  I think they'll end up as pendants on a chain.

Thrifted Find

I found this pretty green White brand sewing machine at the Salvation Army down the road... I haven't tested it to see if it works - but it was so pretty and Cassie, the enabler, was there to talk me into buying it- despite not having a car with us and having to carry the million pound thing home!

Another summer event!

We have just confirmed that we will be at the Women's Art Festival this year!!


The festival features original art designed and created by women and includes painting, printmaking, sculpture and pottery, jewelry, drawing, photography and fabric art while supporting local women's organizations! There will also be a silent auction, various musical entertainment and a children's craft area so bring your family and friends and come and visit us on August 15th!

Time for a new camera!

My camera broke over a month ago and I have decided to invest a little more money and get a basic digital SLR. What do you use when photographing for your blog? Any suggestions on what's good or what to avoid?? I feel overwhelmed by all the options!
