Oscar Night!

I love celebrity anything, I love movies so naturally Oscar night is one of my favorite nights!

Overall there were no big surprises with the winners- everything went as predicted, (I was hoping that that maybe newcomer Gabourey Sidibe would steal the best actress honours - and sorry I love Sandra Bullock, but "The Blind Side" was awful and not Oscar worthy! )

Best Quotes:

-
"Let me tell you something about this dress. If fashion was porn, this dress is the money shot."
-Gabourey Sidibe,
about her outfit

- "Thank you, Mom and Dad, for turning me on to such a groovy profession."
- Jeff Bridges - you have to love The Dude!

-"
Never once in my life did my parents say, 'What you're doing is a waste of time.' ... You want to be creative? Get out there and do it, it's not a waste of time."
- Michael Giacchino, winner for Best Original Score for Up

-"Anyone who's ever worked with Meryl Streep always says the same thing: can that woman act! And what's with all the Hitler memorabilia?"
- Steve Martin

-
“Actors want scripts with social relevance, warm-weather locations, phone-call scenes that can be shot separately from that insane actress that I hate, and long, dense columns of uninterrupted monologue, turning the page and for instance seeing the phrase ‘Tony Stark, continued.’”
- Robert Downey Jr. banter about writers and actors with Tina Fey

WTF moments

Tribute to Horror
Since when are Twilight, Edward Scissor Hands or Beetlejuice considered horror?

"Let the woman talk!"
Best Documentary Short winners, producer
Elinor Burkett and director Roger Ross Williams, win for most awkward acceptance when she interrupted his speech and took control of the mike - and no wonder they actually went to court over the film!

"Tell Me Again how Great I Am?" Having the co-stars of the nominees for best actor/actress talk about how great they were, was for the most part awkward and had the feel of wedding toasts-
We could have made a drinking game for how many times the words grace, respect and humility were used. In particular Colin Farrell ramblings about Jeremy Renner were especially painful, was S.W.A.T really a great body of work to compare to?

"
Another One?"
Best Costume Design winner
Sandy Powell’s “I already have two of these." umm your welcome?

RED CARPET

The red carpet trends showed us ruffles, neutral colours, tones of blue and strapless, strapless, strapless! I have to say most people played it pretty safe, even the worst dressed weren't as tragic fails as past dress (ie. Bjork's swan dress, Celine's backwards suit).

My top 5 Best dressed

1) Kristen Stewart in Monique Lhuillier

I thought she looked really pretty and thought it as cute that she was shaking when she presented!

2) Sandra Bullock in Marchesa
Very classic looking and elegant

3) Penelope Cruz in Donna Karan
I loved this colour and it really stood out amongst all the nude/rose coloured dresses

4) Cameron Diaz in
Oscar de la Renta
I am not a big fan of Cameron Diaz, but she does have a good stylist!

5) Helen Mirren in Badgley Mischka
Age appropriate but still sexy! I hope I age as well as her!

Honourable Mention : Miley Cyrus, Gabourey Sidibe, Mo'Nique, Mariska Hargitay

My top 5 Worst dressed

1) Sarah Jessica Parker
The dress wasn't bad - it was just bad on her, along with her jersey shore-esque tan aged SJP by about 10 years.

2) Zoe Saldana
This looked liked 3 dresses mashed together, the top was pretty but she lost me at the giant pom poms.

3) J-Lo
The dress looked overly sculpted and like it was made of bubble wrap

4) Charlize Theron
I am surprised at Charlize! I usually love her choices - but rosette boobs... really?

5) Vera Farmiga
Overloaded on ruffles and looked like a mermaid made of bed skirts - However the colour was perfect for her... such a shame...

Honourable Mention - Amanda Seyfried and Demi Moore

Congrats to all the real winners- and to our Oscar party night poll winners! Clifford came in first, Cassie came in second and Scott and I tied for 3rd!
