Happy 1st Birthday!

My little boy Caden turned one last weekend and I am just getting around to posting the few photos that I managed to get now! We didn't do anything to over-the-top, we actually ended up opening presents in our pj's after Jason got home from work but here are a few pics of the day!

Clark ended up opening most of his presents for himbear that I made for Caden, from this pattern

My Christmas mantle!

I have never had a fireplace or mantle to decorate before and I am really excited to do one this year! I had most everything around the house or thrifted the item which made it super cheap (like just a few dollars!) and I love that I'll be able to play around with it and add more things through the holidays!

I used:
*spools of serger thread
*little trees from the boys toy box
*thrifted doilies
* cute deer for 50 cents from the thrift store
*fabric snowflakes from the dollar store

Do you have a Christmas mantle that you decorate?

Friday Favourites!

Who doesn't love deer all year around and especially at Christmas time? We have been watching Rudolph with Clark (our 2 year old) and I have started a little collection that is going on my Christmas mantle and have been scouring Etsy and our local thrift stores so here are some of my online faves! Have you started decorating for the holidays yet? Happy Friday everyone!!

Our craft fair weekend!

We had a fun weekend of craft fairing and here are our photos! All though sales where not spectacular we made back our table fees and then some and are realising where our market is (and isn't) in Kingston and thinking about more long term goals, beyond the craft fair circuit! We are also now pros at our set up and had plenty of time to hang out together and work on projects while vending! Hope you all had a happy weekend!

My very first outfit post!

I have been thrift shopping a lot lately for craft supplies, clothing for myself and the boys, yarn, housewares and all sorts of other things! I also have been wanting to start doing outfit posts for a while so here is my first attempt, lets call it the thrifted edition!

hand knit, thrifted sweater, just removed the clear plastic buttons
value village, $3.99

thrifted leather booties with croc type finish on side
Picton thrift store, $2

belt - thrifted
dress - old navy, many seasons ago
locket - Etsy, miashoebox
slip - thrifted

I realised after checking out my photos that I had cut off my feet in almost every picture so I put in the last photo just so the boots can be seen and I am also a sucker for a sepia edit! Hope you are all having a lovely Friday!

Fall trend - socks and tights

I am noticing all of my favourite style bloggers wearing socks paired with tights these days! Do you think it is the warmth factor of the extra layer or purely for style? I am hoping that Jessi brought me back some knee socks from her and Cassie's trip to NYC, and hopefully they are beige so I can wear them with all kinds of contrasting tights. I love finding a wearable trend that serves a purpose and that isn't a big investment!

What do you think of this style? Will you be wearing socks and tights this fall?

Past Project

Ohhhh how I missed you!

It has been quite a while since I have sewn a piece of clothing for myself, this was the last thing that I have done and that was in in July, so yes it has been way too long!  I was having the urge to whip up something easy and fallish and I have a little blue obsession happening right now...so this is what I came up with!

It is loosely based on this burda 7428 pattern, but I had McCalls M5769 already at home which is actually sleepwear and I used the bath robe pattern!  I just made the sleeves shorter and added the cuff and pockets.

It has kind of a kimono feeling and looks cuter belted, but I am mostly loving the pockets!  I am definitely into pockets but am usually too excited to wear something and don't bother with them unless I have too, but now I am going to take the time and put them in everything!

The cowl is also made by me and is really soft gray stripes.  I still haven't decided if I am going to gift it, sell it at our Christmas craft show or keep it...I think probably keep on this one :)
