The Tree is up!

Despite all being sick we decided to put up our little Charlie Brown tree this past weekend (I think it's the last year for the tree - I want a fuller one!).  I've had to let go of my strict tree decorating now that we have kids and let them put the ornaments where they want and try not to be bothered by all the bunching of ornaments contrasted with big empty spaces lol.

I thought it was going to be hard keeping Lily from taking ornaments of the tree, but she really was only interested in it that night and is kinda over it now, we'll see if she can stay away once there are presents under it! We also decided against putting candy canes on since we know she'd be stealing those every chance she got! When are you

really excited for the 20 minutes of snow we got!

Vintage quilt topper = so pretty!!

I finally got my quilt top today after about a month of waiting and checking my mail! It has so many great vintage feed sack fabrics and I just want to go keep looking at it :) I am not sure what I'll do with it yet, maybe have my Nanna make it into a quilt for the spare/sewing room? I know nothing about quilting and would hate to ruin it so I should probably leave it to a pro! I am picturing blocks of colour surrounded by white, just a simple but pretty design...what would you do with it?

My Christmas mantle!

I have never had a fireplace or mantle to decorate before and I am really excited to do one this year! I had most everything around the house or thrifted the item which made it super cheap (like just a few dollars!) and I love that I'll be able to play around with it and add more things through the holidays!

I used:
*spools of serger thread
*little trees from the boys toy box
*thrifted doilies
* cute deer for 50 cents from the thrift store
*fabric snowflakes from the dollar store

Do you have a Christmas mantle that you decorate?

Friday Favourites!

Who doesn't love deer all year around and especially at Christmas time? We have been watching Rudolph with Clark (our 2 year old) and I have started a little collection that is going on my Christmas mantle and have been scouring Etsy and our local thrift stores so here are some of my online faves! Have you started decorating for the holidays yet? Happy Friday everyone!!

Our craft fair weekend!

We had a fun weekend of craft fairing and here are our photos! All though sales where not spectacular we made back our table fees and then some and are realising where our market is (and isn't) in Kingston and thinking about more long term goals, beyond the craft fair circuit! We are also now pros at our set up and had plenty of time to hang out together and work on projects while vending! Hope you all had a happy weekend!

Baby Boy

Turns out that little Aqualad is a lad after all!

Our last ultrasound confirmed that we're expecting a baby boy March 20th, 2011.  So exciting!  Also can't wait for all the great things I can make him.
